Social Studies Club?

As I contemplate my extracurricular plans for next year, I was thinking about starting a Social Studies Club.  How receptive would kids be to joining a club based solely on History?  During the year, we would use technology to highlight the awesomeness of History.  It sounds great in my head, but do you think it would take off?  I need a catchy name to hook the kids.

  1. How about starting a “Story Chasers” club? Our oral history and digital storytelling project in Oklahoma has formed a nonprofit named “Story Chasers Inc” and our goal is to empower teachers as well as students to become digital witnesses, archiving and sharing local history safely on the global stage: the Internet.

    What do you say?!

  2. Wes,

That is an interesting idea. I’ve been checking out What type of support would I get? Would I be provided the flip cameras? Besides getting the kids together, what else would I need to do as their adviser? Post-Production?
